Your equipment is life support. Even if it’s been sitting clean and dry between trips, O-rings age, seals can creep, and salt finds its way into places you can’t see. Regular service isn’t just about “passing a test”—it’s about breathing easy, dialing in buoyancy without fighting your kit, and showing up to the boat (or the beach) confident that everything will work the way it should.
At Gulf Current Dive Center, we service the equipment we sell. That’s our scope, by design: it lets us stand behind the brands we carry, keep service quality consistent, and make sure we’re working with the correct parts and procedures for your specific model.
What we service (and why it matters)
We focus our service work on the gear we sell—because that’s where we can support you best. When we’ve sold it, we can typically identify the model quickly, confirm the right service parts, and help you make smart decisions about maintenance versus replacement.
If you’re not sure whether your regulator, BCD, computer, or other equipment is something we carry, don’t guess—just ask. A quick call or a quick look in person usually clears it up fast.
When to bring your gear in
Some divers wait until something feels “off.” We’d rather see your equipment before it turns into a ruined dive day. If you notice any of these, it’s time to stop by:
- Your regulator breathes wet, free-flows, feels stiff, or just “doesn’t feel right”
- Your BCD slowly loses air, an inflator sticks, or dumps aren’t venting cleanly
- Hoses show cracking, fraying, bulges, or suspicious wear at the fittings
- SPGs/computer attachments are wobbly, leaking, or the console feels compromised
- Anything has been stored for a long time, used heavily, or exposed to sand/silt/salt repeatedly
And even if everything seems fine: periodic maintenance is part of owning dive gear. It helps prevent small issues from becoming expensive ones and keeps performance consistent dive after dive.
How to start a service request
We keep this simple.
Option 1: Call us. Tell us what you have, what it’s doing (or not doing), and whether it’s gear you purchased from us. We’ll guide you on the next step and let you know what to bring.
Option 2: Drop by the shop. Bringing the equipment in is often the fastest way to get accurate answers. We can look over what you’ve got, talk through symptoms, and help you choose the best path—service, replacement of a worn component, or a quick fix.
If you can, bring:
- The full setup as you use it (reg + octo + gauges/computer, BCD with inflator hose, etc.)
- Any notes about what happened and when (free-flow at the surface, slow leak overnight, sticky inflator after a trip, etc.)
- Proof of purchase or any service records you have (helpful, not required)
What to expect during intake
When you hand gear over for service, you deserve clarity—not mystery.
We’ll start by confirming what the equipment is and whether it falls within our service scope (we service what we sell). If it does, we’ll ask a few practical questions about how it’s been used and what you’ve noticed. That conversation helps us prioritize safety, diagnose accurately, and avoid “chasing” symptoms.
Because turnaround times and parts needs can vary by model and condition, we won’t make up a timeline on the spot. We’ll set expectations based on what we can actually support—and if anything changes once we get deeper into the service, we’ll communicate with you.
Protect your investment between services
Good maintenance isn’t complicated—it’s consistent. A few habits go a long way:
Rinse thoroughly after every dive day, especially around moving parts and fittings. Let gear dry completely before storage. Avoid baking equipment in a hot car. Store regs and BCDs in a way that doesn’t stress hoses or pinch seals. And if something seems questionable, don’t “see if it clears up on the next dive.” Bring it in and let’s take a look.
Not sure we sell your brand? Let’s figure it out.
If your gear didn’t come from us, it may or may not be within our service scope. The easiest way to find out is to call or stop by with your equipment—we’ll tell you quickly and point you in the right direction.
